Are there any limitations on the kind of vehicle I can rent out for private use?
The car must be under four or five years old when it is first licensed, and it may be licensed until the Council's authorized vehicle examiner determines that it is no longer roadworthy to be licensed as a private hire car. The car needs to be right-hand drive and have at least four doors. In addition to the driver, it must have a minimum capacity of four people and a maximum of eight. It must be a standard family saloon automobile, meaning it must be of a suitable size and design.
Will my regular MOT be enough, or will the car need to be tested?
Before a license is granted, the car must pass a MOT test conducted by a vehicle examiner recognized by the Council.
